Our Airstream Art Space

When we first headed out on the road for this 3-month #EndlessCaravan adventure, I knew I would need to figure out a way to set up an art space for the girls in our 23 ft. Airstream trailer.

After moving into the Airstream and organizing all of our clothes, food, and other home items, there wasn’t much space left for art supplies.  I was determined to set up an inviting and accessible art space for my kids, so I turned to my go-to design solution… empty wall space.

I found the one wall in the Airstream that would be perfect for a mini art space and began planning the design. Since this trailer doesn’t belong to us, I knew I couldn’t drill into the wall, so I decided to use the Perch magnetic wall system that can be temporarily attached with a strong double sided tape.

I always get questions about how I set up these magnetic wall units, so I made a video to show you how.

In case you’re interested, you can find the Perch wall system here and the Ooly art supplies here.

Since installing this art space almost 3 months ago, we have driven thousands of miles on many bumpy roads and the containers and art supplies have stayed in place. So even if you don’t have a mobile art space, this should hold up to a good amount of bumps and daily use.

Do you have a small space that you want to turn into an art area? What’s your biggest challenge in getting one set up?
